The death of a former Charmandean student

We were greatly saddened to hear news of the death of David Burlinson who was at Seaford College (Charmandean) in the early 1950s.

David arrived at Seaford having moved from the Preparatory School at Worthing. While at a St George’s Day Parade of Sea Scouts/Ranger Guides at St Mary's Church Petworth, he met his future wife, Jennie.

They kept in touch after he left school and David did his National Service in the Royal Navy. Sailing was a passion throughout his life, and he owned several boats.

David and Jennie had three children and now have four grandchildren. They lived first in Hertfordshire and moved in 1972 to Suffolk, with David running his own businesses making network installation systems for the early computer industry.

David and Jennie ‘retired’ to the Norfolk Broads in 2004 where David continued sailing and tinkering on his favourite boats. He continued to run a small company until 2022 when ill health forced a proper retirement. He died on 29th December 2023, aged 87.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Jennie and the family.
