It was wonderful to meet up with so many Old Seafordians at our Remembrance Sunday service, alumni lunch and sports afternoon on 9th November.

Remembrance Sunday is one of most important and moving events in the Seaford calendar. Each year we come together as a community to remember and celebrate the lives of those Old Seafordians who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the First and Second World Wars. It is also a perfect opportunity to renew old friendships and build new ones, with the memories of life at Seaford the glue binding us all.
This year, after the service and lunch, there was a short presentation by chaplain Fr Colin Datchler about our exciting new plans for the Chapel, the freehold of which is being transferred from the Diocese to Seaford College. This will allow us to make it more of a focal point in the life of the school.
The Church of St Peter (its official name) is mostly 13th century in origin, although there is also mention in the Domesday Book, William the Conqueror’s great survey of England and Wales, published in 1086.
Remembrance Sunday is also when school teams take on Old Seafordians at hockey, netball, golf and clay pigeon shooting, along with a staff versus alumni touch rugby match.
There were some titanic battles this year, especially in the rugby match which was won 10-9 by the staff. Students triumphed in the netball, with the Old Seafordians coming out on top in the hockey.
Thank you to all the Old Seafordians for joining us on Remembrance Sunday, and for making it such a memorable occasion.
We look forward to seeing you again next year.
