Old Seafordians at Arundel v Sussex Martlets

It was wonderful to see a few Old Seafordians at yesterday’s 1st XI Boys’ match against Sussex Martlets at a sun-drenched Arundel Castle Cricket ground.

Almost 550 runs were scored, with two of the five alumni (Harry Walker and Matt Bissett) playing for the Martlets team, and Harry scoring an unbeaten 162. Watching on were Luke Smith, Nantes Oosthuizen and Dan Cooke.

All five were part of the Seaford Boys’ 1st XI, captained by Luke, that won the Langdale Cup last year on the same ground.

It was a good effort by the Seaford boys who were set 300 by a very strong Martlets side. Despite stylish knocks by Shalk Fourie (87) and John Barran (54), the team came up a few runs short.

It was a fabulous experience for the Seaford boys, and we wish them all the best for the season ahead.
