Lavington Park’s microclimate struck again late last week cloaking the College in the first snows of the winter.

Seaford’s campus, tucked under the north side of the South Downs, became a winter wonderland for a few hours while places just a few miles away were virtually snow free.

As these aerial pictures show, the immediate area around Lavington Park had several inches of snow. “There’s a bit of a microclimate here,” said David Willcox, Teacher of Geography. “It can be slightly cooler here because of the air sinking over the Downs, and a few miles away the snow would have fallen as sleet or rain.”

It just so happens that Year 7 students are currently studying microclimates and were able to carry out their fieldwork lesson in the snow.

Watch out for more wintry scenes from Seaford College over the next few weeks.
